Watching videos
Q: How do I watch videos?
A: Watching videos on Watchme.com is easy, all you have to do is
- Register for free (this should take less than a minute)
- Browse the site to choose videos you want to see
- Once you have selected a video you want to watch click the ‘Watch now’ button
- A new page with standard media player controls will open and, after a short time, the video will start to play
Please note, some videos are free and some are premium (pay-per-minute). If you
wish to watch premium videos you will need to purchase a viewing time
package and these start from only £6.95.
Q: Do I need any special software?
A: The only software you will require to watch videos is Windows
Media Player which now comes as standard on virtually all windows PCs.
If you don’t currently have it installed on your machine, simply
go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/ where you can download it for free.
Q: Can I watch videos using RealPlayer or Quicktime?
A: No, sorry, we only currently offer videos in Windows Media format.
Q: How do I download the latest version of Windows Media Player?
A: Just go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/ and select the version you require then click download.
Q: How do I know which videos are free and which are pay-per-minute?
A: If you click on the Categories tab you'll be able to
browse all of our various video listings. When browsing you'll see that
each listing states whether the video is free or premium. Please note
this is set by the video contributor rather than Watchme.com. It's
entirely up to them as to whether they want to share their videos for
free or if they think that they are worth paying a few pence a minute
to watch.
Q: Can I watch videos 'full screen' on my computer?
A: Yes you can. When a video is playing, click on the 'full
screen' icon in the bottom right hand corner of the Windows Media
Player frame (top right for Firefox users). If you wish to return
to the regular view click the icon in the bottom right of the
screen.
Please bear in mind that as you increase the size of the video
window the quality of the picture will diminish slightly and the image
will appear more blocky and pixellated. Unfortunately, the technology
involved in streaming content over the internet is still evolving and
we have to compromise between picture quality and download speed. As we
want everyone to be able to enjoy uninterrupted streaming videos we
have to reduce the size of the video files and the amount of data we
stream per second to try to ensure this. As faster internet connections
become more commonplace we will be able to gradually increase the size
and quality of the video files we stream without the viewer
experiencing any interruptions to playback.
Q: Can I download videos and save them on my computer?
A: At the moment we only offer streaming videos. We may offer
downloadable ones in the future but have found the vast majority of our
customers now have broadband and prefer the immediacy of streaming.
Q: I can't seem to get videos to play?
A: In order to watch videos you need to be 'logged in' and, if you
want to watch premium videos, have available viewing credit. If you are
already a member click here to log in. If
you have not signed up yet you will need to register before you can
watch videos. Registering is free and should only take a minute or two,
to sign up now click here
If you are still experiencing viewing problems once you have
'logged in', please consult the Members' Help section for further
troubleshooting tips.

Q: Can I watch videos on my TV?
A: The simple answer is yes, but you will probably need to invest in some additional cables and / or hardware.
If you connect to the internet via a wireless connection you may
want to buy a wireless digital media player like this one from
Linksys. There are others available but we thought this one looked
pretty good.
http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=4YV7&CategorySelectedId=11228&NavigationKey=11228&ExposedRefinement=11006&InMerch=1
Alternatively, if you're not too worried about wires, you
will need to find out what type of video output your computer has. All
PCs made in the last few years should have one of the following;
S-Video (most laptops have these) - if your PC has an S-Video
output and your TV has the appropriate input you should be
able to use a standard S-video cable to connect the two.
Composite video - some newer computers have a TV card
fitted with an RCA composite connector. If you have a TV card, then
you should be able to connect the computer to the TV using an
RCA cable. If your TV does not have an RCA input, you can purchase
a RCA adapter.
VGA - virtually all computers have a VGA output to
connect to a regular PC monitor however the only televisions to feature
this type of connection are High Definition TVs (HDTV).
All of these cables will be available at larger computer / electronics stores.
You can find more comprehensive installation instructions here
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mce/getstarted/connecttv.mspx
Please bear in mind that as you increase the size of the video
window the quality of the picture will diminish slightly and the image
will appear more blocky and pixellated. Unfortunately, the technology
involved in streaming content over the internet is still evolving and
we have to compromise between picture quality and download speed. As we
want everyone to be able to enjoy uninterrupted streaming videos we
have to reduce the size of the video files and the amount of data we

become more commonplace we will be able to gradually increase the size
and quality of the video files we stream without the viewer
experiencing any interruptions to playback.

Uploading videos
Q: How do I upload videos / clips to Watchme.com?
A: Once registered, all you need to do to is click
the ‘Upload videos’ tab and input some basic
information
about your video - title, description, running time etc. You will
then need to upload a still image from the video and the video
content which you will do by selecting the files from your computer's
hard drive. When you are happy with your choices, click the upload
button and you will see a progress bar appear which will give you an
idea of how long the uploads will take.
We then have to confirm that the video doesn’t breach any of
our guidelines (see the ‘Guidelines’ section below) and
assuming everything’s OK your video will be live and making you
money within just a few hours.
Q: What format do the videos have to be in?
A: We can accept videos submitted in WMV, MPEG, MP4, MOV, ASF,
AVI, 3GP formats. If at all possible however, we strongly recommend
uploading videos in WMV format as these enjoy maximum compatibility
with our automated encoding software and this keeps approval delays to
a minimum.
Q: What format do the still images have to be in?
A: We currently only accept images submitted in JPEG format.
Q: Does everyone in the videos have to be over 18 even if there's no nudity?
A: YES! This is an adult site. It is absolutely imperative that
EVERYONE in your videos was aged 18 and over at the time of filming. We
cannot emphasize this point strongly enough. If you submit videos
featuring participants under the age of 18 you are committing a
criminal offence and we will report you to the relevant authorities.
Ignorance is no excuse - if you aren't 100% sure, don't upload the
videos - simple as that!
Q: Do I need to have the permission of all the people featured in the video?
A: Yes, absolutely. It is your responsibility to ensure all
participants have given their consent. We will remove any content that
involves people who do not want their video / clip to be seen.
Q: Are there limits on the length of videos?
A: Technically no. You can upload anything from a few seconds
to a couple of hours. Please bear in mind however that
viewers tend not to bother with clips that are too short and similarly
may be put off by videos that are very long; we tend to find that the most popular videos are between 2 and 10 minutes long.
Q: Is there a limit to the size of the file I can upload?
A: Yes, we ask that you limit the size of the video files to 150MB.
Q: My file is too big to upload, is there anything I can do?
A: The easiest thing to do is to re-encode the video at a lower
resolution which will reduce the file size. We recommend using Windows
Media Encoder (because it's free more than anything else). You can
download it from Microsoft here
Once you've downloaded it here's what you need to do
- Open the program and select the 'Convert a file' option then click 'OK'
- When prompted browse your computer to select the video
file you want to reduce in size and enter it in the 'Source file' box
- The destination for the 'Output file' should be set automatically but you can change it if you wish
- Click 'Next'
- Select 'Windows Media server (streaming)' and click 'Next'
- In the 'Bit rate' dropdown section check the box beside 340 Kbps (make sure only one box is checked)
- Click 'Next'
- You can ignore the next page 'Display Information' and just click 'Next'
- Then click 'Finish'
This time taken to encode the file will depend upon the size and format
of the original but it shouldn't take too long. You'll be able to see
the progress on the file in the encoder window. Please note this
process ties up almost 100% of your computer's processor power so you
won't really be able to work will the encoding is in process.
Once the file is encoded you should (hopefully) notice that the ouput
file is significantly smaller than the original and quality shouldn't
have been reduced too noticeably. You can then upload the file to
Watchme in the usual way.
Q: I can't upload large files, is it possible to send in videos on disc?
A: Sorry, not at present.
Q: What types of videos make the most money?
A: There are no hard and fast rules but here are a few things to bear in mind
- Movies featuring couples tend to do better than solo/masturbation videos
- Some niches are much more popular than others. Videos featuring popular niches like MILFs, Anal, Facials etc can do very well
- Guys generally seem to think the World wants to watch them knock one out - we would beg to differ
- A good description can make the difference between a hugely
popular video and one that might go unnoticed. Take a look at the two
examples below of videos with really well written descriptions. If
someone clicks on those they're going to want to take a look. If, on
the other hand it says "me fucking" for both the title and the
description they're likely to just walk on by
HOT night

Q: Do I have to upload a still image or can one be captured automatically?
A: We strongly recommend you do upload a still image if you can as
a good picture can act as a great advert for your video. If you don't
have a still or don't know how to create on you can just upload the
video file and our software will create a still image for you. The only
problem with this is, because the process is totally automated, you
could end up with a really crap picture.
Q: How should I choose a still from the video?
A: For obvious reasons, we recommend that you try to
choose an image that will make people curious to see more. As a
contributor, this is probably the best sales tool you have at your
disposal so you need to select carefully. Ideally you should try
to make the participant(s) look as attractive and inviting as
possible. Also, try to give potential viewers an indication
of what to expect; if for example your video was filmed
in an interesting location such as outdoors, you would probably want
the image to reflect that.
Q: Will I make more from a 5 minute clip or an hour long video?
A: It is impossible to say for certain, but you should bear in
mind that our viewers tend to watch 2-10 minutes of each video and that the majority of our videos are between 2 and 15 minutes
long. We would probably recommend you aim to keep your videos
below 15 minutes in length to maximise your returns.
Q: Is there any limit to the number of videos I can upload?
A: Absolutely not, the more the merrier.
Q: Can I upload videos and clips that I have downloaded from the web or ripped from DVDs?
A: No you can’t. Watchme.com is all about original content,
the copyright of which is owned by you, the contributor. Any content
that is found to be breaching copyright will be removed and any
associated earnings will be deducted from the contributor’s
account.
Q: How do I create a profile and why should I bother?
A: It's easy to create your Watchme profile and well worth
the effort. When you upload your first video you'll be prompted to
create your profile alternatively you can click the link within the 'My
Account' section to set one up at any time.
Watchme members can browse the site by videos but also by profiles
so, if you have a great profile, users might just check out your
videos. Your profile is an opportunity to tell the potential viewers
what you're all about and why they should watch your videos. In
addition, if someone watches one of your videos and they like it,
there's a good chance they'll click on your profile picture to find out
more and see what other videos you have available. If you don't set up
a profile this space will be filled with a 'Featured Profile' and this
could cost you valuable clicks and views.
If you need any help with setting up your profile please feel free
to email us on support@watchme.com and we'll be happy to help.

Q: How do I maximise my earnings on Watchme.com?
A: We recommend that you
- Upload videos regularly - our Latest Videos section is one of the
most-trafficked areas of the site so videos do tend to attract more
views when they feature in this section. If viewers watch your latest
video and like it they're more likely to click through to your profile
and watch your other videos so regular updates are always beneficial.
- Link to your profile & videos - we provide you with unique
tracking links (you'll see a banner promoting this feature on the
Member's homepage when you log in). Post these links on your own
website, on your Facebook or MySpace page, in forums or anywhere else
you can think of to drive additional visitors to your videos. Not only
will they hopefully watch your videos but you'll also receive 30% of
any money they spend directly into your Watchme account for the
lifetime of their membership. This can be an easy way to make extra
cash for very little work. Once your links are posted they can carry on
making you money indefinitely.
- Upload free teaser clips - whether you send your own traffic to your
profile or just want to attract the attention of our existing members,
you'll find that many people want to 'try before they buy' so it's
always worth adding at least one free teaser so people can get an idea
of what your videos are going to be like. We suggest you don't give too
much away though or they'll have less incentive to watch your
pay-per-minute clips. Ideally, free videos should be less than 2
minutes long and provide a tantalising taste of what your premium
videos have to offer. To set the status of a clip to 'free' you just
need to check the appropriate option on the first page of the
upload/edit video process.
- Allow us to mention your videos in our newsletter - this
is currently sent to approx 50,000 people per week and is a great way
to
get exposure for your videos. We can't guarantee inclusion but each
week we mention a few of our favourite recent uploads so if you've
chosen to opt-out of this you'll miss out on this extra traffic. Often
videos mentioned in our newsletter will go into our Top 10 and from
there will gain extra views as the Top 10 is also a high-trafficked
area.
- Communicate with viewers as much as possible - try to reply to
emails from viewers as soon as you can as these guys can become your
biggest fans.
- Write entries in your Watchme blog - you can use your blogs to
tell people about new videos you've added to the site or share any other
erotic thoughts or stories. The latest blogs feature on our homepage so
can be a good way to introduce viewers to your videos.
- Post in our forum, you can find it here. This
forum is fairly new and we're trying to build it up so please add some
posts and naughty pictures and link them to your videos.

Q: Can I still promote Watchme.com and make money even if I don't upload my own videos?
A:
Certainly, just sign up for our affiliate program here
back to top
Q: I'm a webmaster. Can I upload and promote my own content and make money?
A: Yes, absolutely. The only thing we would mention is that,
as we try hard to avoid stolen content being uploaded, we often reject
content if we think it's not amateur or where we have concerns about
copyright, so we may inadvertently reject your uploads. It might be
worth getting in touch in advance to confirm that your content is
legitimately owned and we can then advise the best way to market it on
the site.

on registration you will never receive it. If you opt-in, but decide

A: Absolutely. Just go to the ‘My account’ page and
click on the ‘Billing history’ link. This will take you to
a page which lists all the payments you have ever made. You will also
have the option to clear the list or disable this functionality
altogether if you are concerned about someone else seeing it.
Q: I'm a contributor - can I exchange my earnings for viewing time?
A: Yes you can. Just go to the ‘My account’ page and
click on the 'Convert earnings to discounted viewing time' link towards
the bottom of the page. You'll be able to exchange your earnings for
viewing minutes at the discounted rate of 5p per minute.

Getting paid
Q: How much will I earn?
A: Please click here to see an explanation of how earnings are allocated
back to top
Q: How do I get paid?
A: The majority of Watchme.com's contributors have their earnings
paid into an online payment account (we
stipulate that earnings must exceed £15 as otherwise it’s
just not worth the charges we incur for each transfer). You can also be
paid by cheque or, for larger balances, by electronic transfer.
Q: How do I know how much I am earning?
A: You can monitor your earnings in real time from the ‘My
Account’ section. Just click on the ‘My Account’ tab
and then on ’View detailed earnings’. From here you will be
able to run comprehensive reports of exactly how your content is
performing, how many members you've referred and how much revenue has been generated.
Q: When do I get paid?
A: Our statistics work in real time so you can get an
up-to-the-minute snapshot of your revenue at any time. You can withdraw
your earnings any time you like as soon as the balance exceeds
£15 (unfortunately, it is not practical to do transfers for less
than £15 due to the level of charges we incur for each).
Q: Do you deduct tax from my earnings?
A: No. We don’t make any deductions from your earnings. The
numbers you see on the screen are the amounts we will pay you.
Q: Do I have to declare my earnings?
A: That is entirely up to you. We will not inform any third party of your earnings.
Security
Q: How safe are my credit card details?
A: Very safe. We use third-party payment processing companies to process all transactions
100% securely. Your details are protected by 128 bit encryption and
cannot be intercepted or read by any third party.
"How can you tell?"
When you input your card details you will notice that the
website address in your browser begins with the letters 'https'
which confirms that you are using a secure server. You will
also notice a small padlock icon in the corner of the browser window
(if you are using Internet Explorer).

A: Very safe. We store all member details in an encrypted format
to ensure that they cannot be 'hacked' or accessed in any way by any

(except to confirm payments).
